Who Am I

My name is not important, but my pen name is Monday. I am the average aspiring author. Currently, I am majoring in creative writing. While in college, I couldn’t get into any internships because I live so far away from the publishing companies in New York. With all this craziness going around, I decided to do my own work by covering the work of black authors and freelancing on Fivver.

Why Being Black Matters

I have done the research and found that the publishing industry is predominantly white. Many African American readers/writers seek to get their foot into the field. I want to make my start by pointing the spotlight on African American creators. We don’t get enough attention or credit for our work. On top of that, there isn’t an alliance where we can go and see content about African American writers.

Black Authors Are Fantastic

Many people here and before me have created hundreds of cultural impacts. I want to focus on authors who portray people of color. There is incredible talent in this world, and it deserves to be talked about. Some people feel out of touch with their culture and need/want to be surrounded by people like them. I seek to create a community where we can come together and learn about ourselves.

My Aspirations

I want to be an author, plain and simple. I write, read and draw every day, so I want to pursue a career in publishing. One day I will find an agent and an editor who will help me publish my Manuscript. I’m just waiting for it to finish itself. In the meantime, I am studying the craft and industry. The goal is to work at a publishing company. I’m looking for ways to get my foot in the door. I was even considering being a librarian.

Melanin Mondays

I plan on covering Young Adult books. I have book reviews, book hauls, author spotlights, ect. I am excited to show the internent how amazing these books aare. This blog focuses more on Science Fiction, Fantasy, Mystery, Contemporary, and possibly other sub genres. What kind of book content would you want to read about?
